Menu Monday

I'm trying to blog more regularly, so hear goes...

Sunday: Grilled tilapia and asparagus, risotto

Monday: Mac & cheese, California blend

Tuesday: Spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, salad

Wednesday: Leftovers

Thursday: Marinated grilled chicken, green beans, roasted red potatoes

Friday: Dinner out

Saturday: Chicken enchiladas, rice

My new thing is to add fish to our menu once a week.  I'm not a fish eater, but Clint is and I'd like Isabella to develop a taste for it.

What are you having this week?

Isabella's "New" Room

Ok, so it's the same old room with a new look. :)

A couple months ago we ditched the crib and purchased new furniture for Isabella's room.  We knew we were nearing that time, but when I caught her stuck with one leg half-way over the crib rail I knew we couldn't wait.

We ordered a twin sleigh bed, mattress (duh!), and a new dresser with mirror.  Although she cried that at that first nap in the "big girl bed," she has loved it ever since.  I had fun redecorating, but man was it hard to change the room.  That was the room we brought her home to after she was born!  I'll admit I was a bit jittery seeing the crib and changing table out by the curb for pick-up too.  I kind of wanted to save them for sentimental value!  We knew we (ahem, I) would want new furniture if we have another child, so there was no reason to keep it.  Plus, it was a drop-side, and even with the rail secured it made me a wee bit nervous.  Unfortunately, we couldn't even donate it because it's now illegal to sell or donate drop-side cribs.

Her bedding the Circo Blossom collection from Target, in Aqua/Coral.  I painted the canvases above her bed for her.  We made add for baskets to the wall for storage.  This girl has A LOT of stuffed animals!

I ordered her growth chart from Amazon.  It's by Oopsy Daisy.  Too bad she won't let us use it to actually measure her.  Maybe if I bribe her with marshmallows...

The dresser area.

The back wall.  I've got to find longer curtains!

I love these Etsy prints!  I had the hardest time deciding which ones to order.  I'm pretty happy with with the end result though.

I got the idea for the hair accessory storage from Pinterest.  I need to find a knob or something a bit more decorative to hang it from though.

The wall color is Valspar's "Sparkle."  How perfect is that color name for a little girl's room?  The photos don't really show the color accurately, but it's a pretty aqua blue.  We'll probably add a couple more decorative touches, like a rug, but Isabella really likes her new room!

Spring has sprung!

The weather has been beautiful recently so we got started on some outdoor projects.  Of course, Isabella was very helpful.

We have a tree! A Magnolia tree!

During Isabella's nap Clint planted a few of these guys behind our privacy fence, Colorado Blue Spruce.  We'll probably be long gone before they're big enough to appreciate, but hopefully future owners will be happy to have them.

2.5 years old!

Just realized I wrote this and never posted it:

Today is Isabella's half-birthday. We celebrated this morning with a new doll.

She's also recently built her first snowman, with Mommy and Daddy's help of course.

Age: 2.5 years old!

Weight: Not sure.  I'd guess around 26lbs?  She's a dainty little thing.

Length: ???

Size: 2T bottoms and 3T tops. Size 7 shoes.
Hair: Long.

Teeth: She has all her baby teeth.

Sleeping:  Pretty well most night.  Naps have been a little less consistent, but she recently started using a nap mat so we expected a bit of a hiccup.

Eating: She's your average toddler when it comes to eating.  Some days she barely eats, some days she devours everything in sight.  She often requests her favorites: strawberries, mac and cheese, yogurt, and pretzels to name a few.
Movement: She's a climber.  I caught her with one leg over the crib rail recently.  We're getting to work on her big girl room now.

Milestones:No longer napping in the crib.  First snowman!

Favorite toys/activities: She's still in love with Mickey Mouse ClubhouseStill loves pushing her doll stroller, cars/trucks/plains/trains, playing outside, and music.

Dislikes: Wearing her coat, sharing toys, and broccoli.

Words/sounds: More complex phrases and sentences and better use of pronouns.

Oops

I've seriously slacked on the blogging lately, so how about a catch-up post to end the year?

We had an 80's rocker girl and a ladybug for Halloween. We also visited the pumpkin patch.

Our new friend, Sparky, came to visit in November.

And of course, we celebrated Christmas.

We hope everyone has a happy and safe new year! I promise not to wait so long to update next time.

Family Photos

We had family photos taken on Purdue's campus in August.  Kim of Kim Davis Photography was great to work with and her prices are very competitive.  I would highly recommend her.

First Day of Preschool!

Isabella started a Montessori preschool program recently.  She's so excited about school!  She goes twice a week for three hours in the morning.

First day!

This is the second day, showing off her backpack and lunchbag!
